Hedge Fund Market Wizards
Buy (No Affiliate Link) →Hedge Fund Market Wizards is the fourth book in Schwager's series and the most institutional. The fifteen interviews skew toward hedge-fund managers running macro, quant, and value strategies — Ray Dalio, Colm O'Shea, Ed Thorp, Jaffray Woodriff, and Joel Greenblatt among them — and the conversations are correspondingly more about portfolio construction, risk, and edge than about a single trader's screen. The standout threads are Dalio on diversification and balancing uncorrelated return streams, Thorp on defining and protecting a genuine quantitative edge, and a recurring insistence across nearly every manager that survival and risk control matter more than maximising return. Schwager closes with a chapter of forty distilled lessons that is worth the price on its own.
Where it falls slightly short of the originals is accessibility: the macro and quant material assumes more background than the first two Market Wizards books, and a beginner may find some interviews abstract. But for an intermediate trader ready to think in terms of process, risk-adjusted return, and how edges are actually built and defended, this is the most intellectually substantial entry in the series. Read the original Market Wizards first; come here when you want the institutional version of the same hard-won lessons.
